About Ink + Oranges

Hi, I'm Silvia, the maker behind Ink + Oranges.

The name comes from my Dutch background — orange is the national colour of the Netherlands, tied to the royal family name "van Oranje" (of Orange). So Ink + Oranges represents me, my family, and my creative journey: ink, printing, and where I come from.

Most days you'll find me experimenting with screenprinting, testing new ideas, making screens, and running this shop from Adelaide, Australia.

It all started because I wanted to add prints to the sustainable fabrics I sew into clothes for my children. Most of those fabrics are plain, and I felt they could use some fun, handmade character. That's where my first experiments with screenprinting at home began.

In 2023, I moved from the Netherlands to Australia and kept printing — and started sharing what I was learning along the way. Screenprinting is such a creative process, but it can feel intimidating at first. That's why I started creating DIY screenprinting kits and running small, hands-on workshops: to make it easier to try at home, step by step.

Everything in this shop is designed with that in mind. From kits and handmade screens to free designs, it's all created to make screenprinting more accessible and enjoyable. I handmake every screen so you can work with professional-quality tools from the start. As we say in Dutch: "Goed gereedschap is het halve werk" — good tools are half the job.

My inspiration comes from everyday life: flowers, textures, colour combinations, and the joy of making itself. I love turning simple ideas into prints that feel alive, imperfect, and personal.

My hope is that these kits and workshops give you a moment to slow down, try something new, and enjoy making something with your own hands.

Welcome to the studio!
